Nigel Lythgoe, Controller of Entertainment at LWT is leaving the company and joining independent production company 19 TV.
Lythgoe, now a household name from being one of the three judges on hit TV series Popstars, has held a top programming position at LWT for a number of years, and was responsible for shows including Blind Date, An Audience With... and Gladiators.
Marcus Plantin, Director of Programmes at LWT and United, commented on Lythgoe's departure:
"Nigel has done a terrific job over the last six years, we will be sorry to lose him."
Lythgoe is moving into the controller position at 19 TV, and it is thought he will take a leading role in developing three new music-based series at the indie. There are no plans to replace Lythgoe at LWT; instead Head of Production Bob Massie and Head of Production Jane Honeycombe will take over his responsibilities.
