Australia plans local 'Comic Relief'
Published Monday, Oct 10 2005, 15:03 BST | By Neil Wilkes

The telethon, which has broadcast on the BBC for 20 years, will air on the Seven network next month.
The event will be closely based on the UK version, broadcasting live from Seven's studios in Melbourne and featuring a mix of live and prerecorded sketches. Clips from UK telethons will also feature, including Elton John's recent Little Britain appearance.
“The Seven Network is delighted to be launching Comic Relief in Australia,??? said Janeen Faithfull, Head of Network Production. “With an unrivalled international reputation for combining exclusive, top-shelf entertainment with record breaking fundraising, Comic Relief is a win for audiences and local charities alike."
Half of all donations will go to Australian projects, with the other half going overseas, primarily to projects in Asia Pacific.
