Homer Simpson named "philosopher of decade"
Published Sunday, Oct 23 2005, 19:00 BST | By Dave West
Homer Simpson has been named as one of ten men of the decade, and specifically titled philosopher of the decade by a magazine.
A panel of "experts" from Men’s Health made the controversial decision, which editor Morgan Rees stands by.
So what makes Homer so special? In Rees’ opinion, the character has "taught a generation how to take on the challenge of modern fatherhood and win."
Other men enjoying the honour of being alongside Homer in the top ten are Bob Geldof, named activist of the year, and Jamie Oliver, who won the chef category.
Rees claims that all ten men named "...have used their talents to change the world around them, rather than just to draw attention to themselves."
