Paul Tonkinson has been axed as host of Channel 4's Big Breakfast after just two months, it has been announced.
The 26-year-old was informed of the decision by producers after yesterday's show, and was told not to turn up this morning.
Instead, co-hosts Donna Air and Amanda Byram flew solo, along with stand-in presenter Mike McClean. A series of guest presenters will take to the seat in the coming weeks.
Producers are said to have approached Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles to take over from Tonkinson, although no firm decision has yet been made.
A Planet 24 statement said: "Paul Tonkinson has been released from his contract as co-presenter of the Big Breakfast.
"The Big Breakfast will continue with its team of regular presenters, who will be joined by a number of guest presenters over the coming weeks."
