Channel 4 is reviving its oddball comedy series Comic Strip Presents... for a one-off special this winter.
The show, noted for launching the careers of Ade Edmondson, Dawn French, Rik Mayall and Jennifer Saunders, first aired 23 years ago on Channel 4's opening night (November 2, 1982).
In the new episode, which is being penned by original writers Peter Richardson and Pete Richens, Sheridan Smith and Tamer Hussan will star as Angie and Luccio, an attractive young couple that have moved into a suspiciously quiet close. The pair soon discover that the previous occupants met a mysterious death involving a waterbed.
Also appearing are Mayall, playing a self-important conceptual artist, Nigel Planer as a shadowy single man and Doon Mackichan as a stern businesswoman.
