ITC blocks Channel 5 news shift

Regulator the ITC has blocked Channel 5's attempt to move its news bulletin out of peak-time.
The broadcaster had wanted to move 5 News to 17.30, in order that it could broadcast Home and Away half an hour later.
The ITC has ruled against, but has allowed a 5 News and Talk programme (see our story here) to be broadcast in the run-up to the election.
"We have some sympathy with the arguments that Channel 5 put forward in favour of moving its news out of peaktime," an ITC spokeswoman said.
"But the commission was unwilling to see the requirement for Channel 5 to provide 20 minutes of news and 10 minutes of current affairs in peaktime being reduced."
