Billie Piper is hoping that her performance in the first series of Doctor Who will help her to launch an acting career in the US.
Yesterday it was announced that America's Sci-Fi Channel had acquired the US first-run rights to series one of the show.
"Doctor Who will be seen across America and this is bound to raise Billie Piper's profile and win her a whole new army of fans," a source told the Daily Star. "It will get her name known among the real movers and shakers and will definitely give her a chance of getting noticed by the people who make or break careers."
