Maureen Lipman to attack Dr Who

Lipman will star on Dr Who, where she will play an invading alien that occupies television sets.

The 59-year-old actress will force the Doctor, played by actor David Tennant, to race against time to stop her using her other-worldly powers to interrupt a royal coronation.

Lipman has already shot the scenes for the show, and has said that she loved every minute of shooting: "I had to respond to commands such as, 'OK Maureen, now could you give us 15 seconds of having every last drop of energy sucked out of you?' It was great!"

Maureen also revealed she is thrilled to have won the role. She said "This will earn me my entire year's worth of street cred."
