More4 has picked up the second run UK rights to new political drama Commander-In-Chief.

As previously reported, the channel originally passed on the show over fears that it was "too jingoistic" in tone. Disney's abc1 instead snapped up the rights and will premiere the first season, backed by a "significant" marketing campaign, in April.

Now More4 will also air the series after abc1's six month window of exclusivity airs in October. The show is likely to take the current Friday night slot occupied by The West Wing, which is coming to an end this year after seven seasons.

Commander-In-Chief, starring Geena Davis as the first female US President, is currently on hiatus in the US after ratings dipped to just 2 million viewers.
