Fatboy Slim has teamed up with Channel 4 to kick off their series of open-air dance and movie events set to be staged around the England v Australia test matches this summer.
The Channel 4 'Summer Tour' will be launched on Friday 6 July when Fatboy Slim headlines a huge free event on BRIGHTON BEACH in front of an expected 20,000 clubbers. Also on the bill are the highly acclaimed Groove Armada.
After taking his 'Halfway Between The Gutter and the Stars‚' album round the world and back again, Fatboy Slim brings it home with his own big beach boutique. Pushing the tempo and hitting the beach, it will be one of the last opportunities to catch Fatboy before he heads for Ibiza. Norman Cook declares 'Let's have it on the beaches! Fatboy don't surf.'
The following night the American hit movie 'Almost Famous' starring Kate Hudson will be screened in the same arena on a digital jumbo screen. Meanwhile on the same screen during the England v Australia test match days on Brighton Beach, sports fans and their families will be able to see Channel 4's exclusive coverage of the test match beamed in from Edgbaston Birmingham from Thursday 5- Monday 9 July. A special Channel 4 Barbecue area and picnic facility will be selling food and drink, creating a perfect day out for the whole family.
The Channel 4 'Summer Tour' then moves onto BRISTOL for another spectacular weekend at Durnham Downs. On Friday 20 July the Dance night features top name DJs, yet to be announced, while the Saturday movie screening is the award winning British film 'East is East'.
Once again people will be able to come to the open-air venue and watch, for free, the live cricket coverage on giant screens, from the Test Match being played at Lords in London.
The 3rd Test at Trent Bridge links up with the Channel 4 'Summer Tour' in BRADFORD in Centenary Square on Friday 3 August. With his unique brand of sampling/ Asian Dub and Global Beats, headlining on the Saturday night is Mercury Prize Winner - Talvin Singh. The movie screening is yet to be announced.
Channel 4 'Summer Tour' winds up at CLAPHAM COMMON with world-wide clubber's favourite - DJ Paul Oakenfold providing tunes and previewing his Creamfields appearance later in the summer. Both Creamfields and 'Summer Tour' are part of Channel 4's '4 Music' zone.
