According to The Mirror, Doherty, 51, has been forced into hiding with his family after he accused 20-year-old Johnny Joyce of grievous bodily harm.
Joyce was cleared at court last week and Doherty is now apparently "a figure of hate in the community". One threat sent to the the former bare-knuckle fighter allegedly said: "You're f**king dead and so are your grassing family."
Doherty has apparently told friends that speaking to the police was "the worst mistake of his life" and is scared his family "will always be on the run".
