The fourth series opener, guest starring Cilla Black and Denise Welch, averaged an impressive 7.31m (30.2%) from 9pm, adding a further 265k on +1.
BBC One's New Tricks repeat was second in the hour with 2.97m (12.7%), followed by Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies with 2.56m (10.9%) and 683k on timeshift, while BBC Two's Hidden Treasures of Australian Art interested 1.04m (4.4%), and The Mentalist took 1.07m (4.6%) for Channel 5.
Comedy Friday Night Dinner, starring Simon Bird, launched on Channel 4 with a respectable 1.86m (8.9%) at 10pm (+1: 322k), ahead of BBC Two's last Fast and Loose, which mustered 785k (3.8%), and Law & Order's 1.03m (5.3%) for Channel 5. The Graham Norton Show logged 3.29m (21.8%) from 10.35pm.
Mastermind and Britain From Above grabbed 2.3m (9.9%) and 1.29m (5.5%) for BBC Two in the 8pm hour, while Relocation: Phil Down Under managed 1.43m (6.1%) for Channel 4 (+1: 110k), and Ice Road Truckers notched up 1.27m (5.4%) for Channel 5.
Meanwhile, 3.39m (14.5%) watched Children's Hospital at 8pm, and QI claimed just 3.07m (13%) for BBC One at 8.30pm.
Overall, 27.4% (+1: 0.6%) gave ITV1 its first Friday primetime win of the year, ahead of BBC One's 18%. Channel 4 was third with 7.1% (+1: 1.2%), followed by BBC Two with 5.5%, and Channel 5 with 4.1%.
