My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding rivals Paddy Doherty and Johnny Joyce will be arrested if they go ahead with a planned televised clash, police have warned.

According to The Mirror, Cumbrian authorities and gypsy leaders have joined forces to prevent a £50,000 fistfight between the reality show stars taking place at Appleby Fair this summer.

Doherty has spoken of his desire to exact revenge on Joyce after a previous clash which left him minutes from death. The 52-year-old and his family were forced into hiding after incurring the wrath of the gypsy community by accusing Joyce of grievous bodily harm.

However, gypsy leader Billy Welsh told the publication that he would not allow any fight to take place.

"It's just bravado," he said. "Neither we nor police will put up with such nonsense."

PC John Chambers, of Cumbria Police, added: "It's a breach of public order. Anyone engaging in it can expect to be arrested."

Doherty previously pledged to fight until his "last breath", while Joyce boasted that he would beat his nemesis "any time, any place, anywhere".
