Challenge is planning to launch two new poker shows, including one featuring only female players.
Women’s Poker, sponsored by 888.com, will air in the 10pm slot between April 3 and April 17, with celebrities, established poker players and home viewers as the contestants.
Meanwhile, Showbiz Poker - airing weekdays at 10.30pm from April 17 - will be a celebrity-based tournament with a prize fund of £25,000.
"We’re always ahead of the game in poker programming and women are about to clean up in the male dominated poker world," said Celia Taylor, deputy controller of Challenge. "They are the fastest growing of online poker players and we’re bringing them out of their homes and onto the tables.”
