The show, which regularly pulls in 17 million viewers in the US, was one of fourteen series given an early renewal for the 2006-07 season by CBS earlier this month.
The news of the acquisition comes after speculation that Five, who has recently sublicenced the early seasons from FX, was preparing a bid for the first-run rights.

"Five's decision to license proves our confidence in the show was justified. Our commitment to NCIS is but a part of a huge line up of quality first run drama we now have on our books. FX is not here just to make up the numbers."
