After 8 years of Who Wants to be A Millionaire? success, rights to the show are up for sale.

The parent company of programme maker Celador are letting go of the show, having licensed it in 105 countries and won more than 60 awards throughout the world.

First launched in 1998, the quiz is now in its nineteenth UK season, attracting audiences of around seven million.

Whoever buys the rights will also get the back catalogue of the show and deals with board game makers and mobile phone companies.

The package is reportedly worth more than £50 million.

Paul Smith, Chairman of Complete Communications Corporation Ltd, who are selling Celador, said he wants to focus efforts on radio and film.
