Graham Norton is to host a BBC show that will feature the search for an actress to play the role of Maria Von Trapp in a new production of The Sound of Music.
The show will see Norton work alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber and West End producer David Ian in their search for a new musical star.
"It will be a real rollercoaster for everyone involved," commented Norton. "I'm thrilled to be along for the ride.
"I'll be there to mop the brows and do some serious handholding as we try and find that star-in-the-making."
The show hopes to whittle down a list of 50 hopefuls to just 10 candidates, with the overall winner being chosen by a public vote.
Lord Lloyd Webber said that he is really looking forwards to the show: "I have always had a passion for discovering and nurturing new talent and this will be a fantastic opportunity for a young artist to become a real star.
"Never before have young musical theatre performers had such an opportunity to show their talents on prime time television."
The eventual show will be directed and produced by Lloyd Webber, and money raised from phone votes will go towards a bursary to help young people make it in the world of musical theatre.
