Will Mellor's sitcom White Van Man has been picked up for a second series by BBC Three.

Mellor's comedy series about handyman Ollie proved a ratings hit for the broadcaster when it aired in the spring.

White Van Man, penned by comic Adrian Poyton, followed Ollie's day-to-day adventures with co-worker Darren (Joel Fry). Described as a "cheeky, knockabout comedy", the show broke the record for the highest launch viewing figures for a narrative comedy on BBC Three.

Shooting for the second series will start later this year.

White Van Man's recommission was announced by BBC Three Controller Zai Bennett earlier today alongside a selection of new programmes for the channel including Elijah Wood's FX comedy Wilfred.
