Comedian Jack Whitehall will star in a new Channel 4 student sitcom created by Peep Show creators Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain.

According to Chortle, the former Big Brother's Big Mouth host and Live at the Apollo funnyman will be the main character in Fresh Meat, a show set in a shared house in Manchester.

Fresh Meat, which will be produced by Objective, will also be written by The Thick of It co-scribe Tony Roche.

Joe Thomas
The Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas will also appear on the show, alongside Lead Balloon's Tony Gardner and Charlotte Ritchie, and stand-ups Tom Basden and Greg McHugh.

Channel 4 drama chief Camilla Campbell has described the comedy as 'like Skins two years on, or This Life with more jokes."

Whitehall is also due to host an episode of the recently recommissioned My Funniest Year for the channel.

He will look back at 2005 in his episode, using a mix of stand-up comedy, archive clips and interviews with special guests.
