Slap Bang recommissioned

Slap Bang With Ant and Dec, ITV's Saturday evening ratings flop, has been commissioned for a second series.

Durring its first run, which ended two weeks ago, the audience share sank to 21%, with BBC1 dominating the primetime lineup.

However, ITV is putting faith in the show, insisting it will be back for another run, early next year.

A spokeswoman for the network said: "We don't set too much stall by the first series of a six-part run. The audience was very loyal and now we want to see it broaden out."

When Slap Bang does return, however, the format will be changed.

"You can't name a single new entertainment series that hasn't come back with some tweaks, especially a live, comedy-based format. New elements are always introduced," the spokeswoman added.

"Slap Bang is a great new show. We have made a long-term commitment to Ant and Dec and the show."
