'Angry Boys' debuts with nearly 600k

Chris Lilley's new comedy Angry Boys premiered with almost 600,000 viewers on Tuesday evening, while ITV1's Injustice lost more than 1m, according to the latest audience data.

A double bill of mockumentary Angry Boys averaged 597k (4.2%) and 462k (4.4%) for BBC Three from 10.40pm. In a strong night for the channel, new documentary series Our War: 10 Years in Afghanistan captivated 1.34m (6%) between 9pm and 10.15pm.

On the terrestrial channels, Anthony Horowitz's drama Injustice continued with 4.28m (18.8%) on ITV1 in the 9pm hour, down 1.04m on the previous night's premiere. A further 147k (0.8%) watched the show on ITV1+1.

However, Injustice was strong enough to outperform Junior Doctors: Your Life In Their Hands, after the former BBC Three programme healed 3.09m (13.6%) on BBC One from 9pm.

Animal Kingdom scooped 3.01m (11%) on ITV1 from 7.30pm. BBC One's Holby City entertained 5.43m (25.4%) in the 8pm hour, beating Countrywise's 2.39m (11.2%) on ITV1 from 9pm. Poor Kids fetched 2.46m (19.5%) on BBC One from 10.45pm.

Over at BBC Two, Britain's Secret Seas sailed away with 1.16m (6%) in the 7pm hour. Springwatch captivated 2.45m (11.5%) from 8pm and 163k (0.8%) on BBC HD. The Country House Revealed gathered 1.39m (6.1%) in the 9pm hour and 126k (0.6%) in HD. Jack Dee's sitcom Lead Balloon amused 1.16m (5.9%) from 10pm.

Four Rooms mustered 1.15m (5.4%) on Channel 4 in the 8pm hour and 107k (0.5%) on +1. The Fairy Jobmother returned with 1.32m (5.8%) from 9pm and 246k (1.4%) an hour later. Jamie's Food Revolution Hits Hollywood cooked up 870k (5%) in the 10pm hour and 104k (1.1%) on timeshift.

Highlights of the Test stalemate between England and Sri Lanka was enjoyed by 648k (3.4%) on Channel 5 from 7pm, before Supersize Grime disgusted 738k (3.5%). CSI and CSI: Miami brought in 2.29m (10%) and 1.33m (7.4%) respectively from 9pm.

Overall, BBC One owned primetime with 22.5% against ITV1's 15.8% (+1: 0.5%). BBC Two came in third place with 7.3%, followed by Channel 5's 6.5% and Channel 4's 4.8% (+1: 0.8%).

Elsewhere, MTV's new scripted reality show Geordie Shore continued with 362k (2%) in the 10pm hour. Highlights coverage of the Isle of Man TT 2011 averaged 652k (2.9%) on ITV4 in the 9pm hour.
