Charlotte Church's former partner has been cast as The Bachelor in Channel 5's adaptation of the hit Warner Bros. US series, where 25 girls will compete for the rugby player's affections while living together in a villa in Southern Europe.
Henson will whittle down the 25 girls to one soulmate after intimate dates and group outings filmed in some of the most lavish locations around the world.
"I'm so excited to have been cast as The Bachelor as I really feel the time is right for me to find a girl to hopefully spend the rest of my life with," said Henson.
"I've always been dedicated to my rugby and continue to train hard but as the season draws to an end I can focus on meeting the right girl. It can be hard in my situation to meet women and The Bachelor will give me the unique opportunity to go on some incredible dates and spend quality time getting to know amazing women from all over the UK."
Jeff Ford, director of programmes at Channel 5, said: "We are delighted to have commissioned The Bachelor for Channel 5 and to be bringing this format to UK television
"Gavin Henson is the perfect bachelor and is hoping to find his ideal partner. I'm sure the viewers will enjoy this high energy and exciting journey as we follow Gavin in his quest to find true love."
Henson, who took part in reality shows Strictly Come Dancing and 71 Degrees North last year, has two children, Ruby and Dexter, with popstar Charlotte Church. The couple broke off their engagement and ended their five-year relationship in May last year.
The Bachelor has aired for 15 seasons in the US, spawning spinoffs The Bachelorette and The Bachelor Pad. The Channel 5 show will be produced by Ricochet, a Shed Media company.
The Bachelor will air on Channel 5 later this year.
