'The Street' gets second series

BBC One has picked up Jimmy McGovern's The Street for a second series.
Another six episodes of the ITV-produced drama will air next year.
"It's incredibly re-assuring that in this day and age there's still an appetite for single plays; and for voices as uncompromising as Jimmy McGovern's," said John Yorke, joint head of the BBC's independent drama unit. "The fact that The Street has found a mass audience and touched a chord with so many people is true testament to Jimmy's talent."
