The story of original celebrity chef Fanny Cradock is being adapted for the screen.
Julia Davis from Nighty Night will play Cradock in Fear of Fanny alongside the League of Gentlemen's Mark Gatiss as her husband Johnnie.
BBC Four controller Janice Hadlow revealed: "Following the success of single dramas exploring key figures from our recent past, including Kenneth Williams and Alan Clark, BBC Four shines the spotlight on the colourful and fascinating [life] of [a woman] who changed the face of British cooking forever."
The film was devised by Brian Fillis from interviews with Cradock's family and colleagues.
