Caroline Aherne is still plotting storylines for the return of The Royle Family this Christmas.
The show's writer, who also plays Denise Royle, has hinted that there will be trauma ahead for neighbour Cheryl.
"I may marry Cheryl off, only to have her standing at the altar alone," Caroline told Celebs on Sunday. "I know it's cruel, but so is life. Besides, the Royles would rally around her."
