Shameless star Maxine Peake has announced that she is quitting the show.
The actress revealed that screen partner Kev, played by Dean Lennox Kelley, will also be leaving the fictional Chatsworth estate in Manchester.
"I'm not going back at all. I don't know how they'll explain Kev and Veronica's exit. But I'm sure, in true Shameless fashion, they'll manage it no problem," Maxine explained.
"I could be cutting my nose off to spite my face but that's why I wanted to act - to do as many different projects as possible."
Peake appeared as Myra Hindley in ITV's See No Evil: The Moors Murders this week.
