Jack Whitehall has landed his own Channel 4 comedy series where he tours the UK meeting strangers.

Hit The Road will feature the popular stand-up on a jaunt around the UK, meeting up with celebrities and comics from the cities he visits.

In each episode, Whitehall must find a stranger who is willing to let him move in with them for a week as he prepares for a local gig.

The instalments will culminate with Whitehall performing a show at a local venue that has been given an iconic makeover.

"At only 23 years old Jack has already been entertaining Channel 4 viewers for years and this move to primetime with his own show is something for us all to celebrate," said Channel 4's entertainment commissioning editor Sydeda Irtizaali.

"This new show will bring his razor-sharp brand of comedy to different places around the country with plenty of stunts, celebrity guests and fun with the locals. It's going to be a modern, irreverent snapshot of Britain from one of our rising stars."
