'Seven Dwarves' enchants 2.5m on Channel 4

Channel 4's new series Seven Dwarves enchanted nearly 2.5m viewers on Tuesday evening, while Elijah Wood's Wilfred launched with 620k, overnight audience data has revealed.

Observation documentary Seven Dwarves, which follows seven dwarf actors living together during a pantomime season production of Snow White, averaged 2.47m (10.6%) for Channel 4 in the 9pm hour, with 384k (2.1%) tuning in an hour later.

The programme proved too strong for Sally Wainwright's three-part drama Unforgiven, which had 1.91m (8.2%) on ITV1 and 164k (0.9%) on +1. However, both shows were outperformed by DIY SOS: The Big Build's 5.68m (24.3%) on BBC One.

Over at BBC Three, a double bill of the Elijah Wood-starring dark comedy Wilfred amused 619k (3.7%) and 503k (3.7%) from 10.30pm.

Wildlife Patrol entertained 2.39m (11.5%) on ITV1 from 7.30pm. BBC One's Holby City entertained 5.19m (23.6%) in the 8pm hour, easily beating Cops With Cameras's 2.93m (13.3%) on ITV1 and 145k (0.6%) on timeshift.

BBC Two's repeat of Dragons' Den mustered 1.15m (5.8%) in the 7pm hour, before The Great British Bakeoff returned with 2.79m (12.7%) in the 8pm slot. Drama The Hour appealed to 1.41m (6%) in the 9pm hour, and mockumentary Twenty Twelve had 530k (2.6%) from 10pm

The Sex Education Show attracted 910k (4.1%) to Channel 4 from 8pm and 167k (0.7%) on +1. Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA earned 1.57m (8.8%) from 10pm and 197k (1.9%) an hour later.

Channel 5's Mexican Food Made Easy cooked up 491k (2.4%) from 7.30pm, before Monster Moves shifted 704k (3.2%) in the 8pm hour. CSI: Miami and CSI investigated 1.93m (8.3%) and 1.19m (6.4%) respectively from 9pm.

Overall, BBC One won primetime with 25.5%, ahead of ITV1's modest 13% (+1: 0.6%). BBC Two came next with 7.2%, followed by Channel 4's 6.8% (+1: 1%) and Channel 5's 4.8%.

Elsewhere, Francesco's Italy: From Top To Toe averaged 604k (2.8%) for BBC Four in the 8pm hour, before Surviving Hitler: A Love Story captivated 598k (2.6%) from 9pm.
