Kate Thornton has said that she is not bitter about being axed from Loose Women.

The former X Factor presenter was fired from the ITV1 lunchtime show along with colleague Zoe Tyler. The duo were replaced by Carol Vorderman and Sally Lindsay.

However, Thornton told The Mirror she understands that changes are to be expected within the industry.

"Telly is all about change and shaking things up. It's how it works," the 38-year-old said. "Everyone is at peace with each other."

Earlier this year, Thornton confirmed that she had split from fiance Darren Emerson.

"I don't know about marriage now. I'd be a slightly old bride," she admitted, quipping: "I'm no Bridget Jones at home necking a bottle of wine."
