Shown earlier this month, the programme offered seven contestants the chance to win £1 million each night. However, despite four players winning the top prize, ratings for the series dipped as low as 3.8m throughout the week.
However, Broadcast reports that ITV chief executive Adam Crozier has told the RTS Cambridge Convention that Red or Black? would undergo changes if it is to return for a second run.
Defending the Ant & Dec-hosted programme, Crozier pointed out that it had attracted more viewers than the first episodes of either X Factor or Britain's Got Talent.
He stated that it had "delivered a fantastically young and valuable advertising audience", and insisted that it had been a "smash online", where viewers were invited to play alone. "It really caught the imagination," he said.

Asked to confirm a recommission, Crozier said that that would have to be "a question for Peter Fincham", the broadcaster's director of TV, channels and online.
