In a statement, the BBC said that the quiz had reached its "natural conclusion". The final episode aired earlier this month.
BBC One controller Peter Fincham paid tribute to the show's "sheer unadulterated fun".
He added: "It re-wrote the rule book by bringing comedy and sport together in a fresh and anarchic way."
