The Hallmark Channel has picked up the UK rights to four new US dramas in joint deals with ITV and the BBC.
The network has landed the second-run rights to Smith, starring Ray Liotta and Jonny-Lee Miller as genius tacticians who plan and execute multi-million dollar robberies. ITV4 has the first-run rights from early 2007.
Another joint deal with ITV is for Jericho, a drama about the chaos that ensues in a small town in the wake of a nuclear disaster. Hallmark has first run rights and ITV the second.
The channel also has first rights to Psych, starring James Roday as a novice sleuth, and Saved, about a compulsive gambler who becomes a paramedic. The BBC has the second run of the former series.
"This is by far and away the most significant package of deals to stem from the LA screenings that we've ever made," said Rosie Hill-Davies, vp of broadcasting at Hallmark owner Sparrowhawk Media. "To have beaten off such fierce competition, with ever-increasing purchase prices, is an amazing achievement and one that we're extremely proud of."
