The actor told Digital Spy that the BBC has not yet confirmed if the supernatural drama will continue.
"We haven't [heard anything] yet," he explained. "I'm not sure when we will. We've all got our fingers crossed. I was talking to the writer Jack [Thorne] the other day and he was saying he hadn't heard yet, but we'll probably find out soon."
He continued: "Hopefully after that last episode [airs] they'll let us know. But we'd already really love to do [a second series], I think."
De Caestecker - who plays Paul in the BBC Three series - added that he has been pleased with the reception to the show's first run.
"There has definitely been a lot of good feedback," he said. "It's something on TV that I would definitely watch myself, if I saw it."
The first series of The Fades concludes next Wednesday at 9pm. De Caestecker will next be seen in BBC One's Young Herriot later this year.
