Chris Addison has suggested that Mock The Week is no longer a "bearpit".

Addison told Digital Spy that it is "lovely" to be a regular on the show and explained that it is not as "aggressive" as it used to be.

"It just isn't like that," he said. "It's very playful."

Watch Chris Addison talking about Mock The Week and Show and Tell below:

Addison admitted that he is a "fanboy" of Have I Got News For You but said that the comedians on Mock The Week are his "generation".

Addison also praised the young comics on his recent series Show And Tell, describing them as "brilliant".

"As soon as you say up and coming, it starts to sound slightly patronising or like you're making excuses," he said. "But actually they're brilliant. Some of those people are not just the best new comics - some of those people are my favourite comics that I have seen."

However, Addison joked that he is worried he has given them too much of a platform, quipping: "It's important for me to hold back new comedians. I think they come across incredibly well, and I was hoping that they might just be rubbish, but no."

Chris Addison's stand-up DVD Chris Addison Live is out on Monday.
