Omid Djalili lands own BBC comedy show

Stand-up comic Omid Djalili is to write and star in his own comedy series for BBC One.
The Omid Djalili Show will feature a mix of stand-up and sketches and is described as a "uniquely adult look" at contemporary issues such as multi-culturalism, death, sex and religion.
Djalili is best known for his role as Spiro in My Family while in the US, he starred alongside Whoopi Goldberg in the NBC comedy Whoopi.
"All I've ever wanted to do is bring world peace through stand-up comedy," said Djalili. "And now I've done that, I can concentrate on my new BBC One comedy series. I shall invoke the spirit of Dave Allen."
