Overnight figures also reveal that 3.35m (14.5%) tuned in for Tonight from 7.30pm and 1.8m (10.9%) watched Piers Morgan's Life Stories from 10.35pm.
BBC One's DIY SOS fixed up an audience of 3m (12%) in the 8pm hour, with The Manor Reborn following from 9pm (3.02m/12.5%). Question Time got 2.36m (18.9%) from 10.35pm.
BBC Two's live snooker saw 1.01m (4.4%) turn up from 7pm. MasterChef: The Professionals from 8pm (2.71m/10.9%), Rev from 9pm (1.24m/5.1%), Life's Too Short from 9.30pm (1m/4.2%) and Frank Skinner's Opinionated from 10pm (1.28m/6.4%) rounded off primetime for the channel.
Grand Designs attracted 1.71m (6.9%) on Channel 4, with a further 420k (1.7%) on +1. Living with the Amish took 1.52m (6.3%) from 9pm (+1: 325k/1.8%) and The Million Pound Drop won 1.46m (9.3%) from 10pm (+1: 119k/1.4%).
The Mentalist continued to perform well for Channel 5 with 1.46m (6.1%) in the 9pm hour. It's All About Amy continued the night with 476k (2.6%) from 10pm, while Highland Emergency from 7.30pm (694k/3%) and Fairground Attractions from 8pm (828k/3.3%) were shown earlier in the evening.
Overall, ITV1 secured primetime victory with 25.4% (+1: 0.8%) - BBC One behind with 18.4%. BBC Two took 6.4% ahead of Channel 4 with 6.1% (+1: 1.2%). Channel 5 ended up with 3.5%.
On the multichannels, The Big Bang Theory amused 667k (2.7%) from 8pm on E4 with an extra 228k (0.9%) on +1.
