HBO Video announced that The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 1 will be released in the US on the new higher quality disc on the same day as standard DVD - November 7.
The producer said that, at $129.99, the HD release will cost $30 more than the standard DVD. It added that a version on Blu-ray – an HD-DVD rival format – is planned for next year.
As more consumers buy HD capable televisions studios are keen to make more titles available. Universal, Warner Brothers and Paramount made a joint announcement last week promising more than 150 HD-DVD offerings by the end of the year.
