Jack Black has been announced as the host of this year's MTV Video Music Awards ceremony.
The comedian hosted the television channel's movie awards in 2002, and follows in the footsteps of fellow funnyman Chris Rock, who presented the 2003 VMAs.
"My plan is to bring the thunder. I've got my top men working on it as we speak, in my thunder laboratory. Radio City Music Hall will never be the same," the Nacho Libre star said in a statement.
This year the awards show returns to its venue in New York after being held in Miami for two years in a row. Due to take place on August 31, the list of celebrities performing includes Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Ludacris, The Killers, and Panic! at the Disco.
