'Apprentice' star quizzed over alleged fraud
Published Monday, Aug 14 2006, 11:53 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly
Syed Ahmed has been questioned over an alleged £400,000 fraud.
The Apprentice star runs an IT firm with business partner Aftab Ahmed, who is accused of not paying back a loan to property tycoon Terry Brady.
Aftab was arrested on suspicion of obtaining money by deception and money laundering, while Syed was also quizzed and has been released on bail until October.
Syed's solicitor told The Sun: "Syed has been knocked for six and is devastated he has a stain on his business reputation which is wholly undeserved. This should never have been dealt with as a criminal matter. It is a straightforward dispute."
