Hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, the show will run for a further 158 episodes and will also make its primetime debut.
Pointless tests a contestant's knowledge of obscure facts and information, with a panel of 100 people being surveyed before each episode.
Players compete for a cash prize by finding the least obvious answers, with a 'pointless' answer being one that none of the 100 people thought of.
Eight special celebrity editions of the show will air on Saturday nights on BBC One, Remarkable Television's David Flynn has confirmed.
"There's not enough Pointless Celebrities on Saturday night television so it's great to bring our show to this new slot," said Flynn.
"We can't wait for more people to enjoy the warm, fun atmosphere that has made Pointless such a ratings success during the week on BBC One."
Pointless debuted on BBC Two in 2009 and moved to BBC One on July 4, 2011. The quiz has become a ratings hit for the channel, with the highest rating episode ever pulling in a peak audience of 5.14 million on December 23.
