'Dr Who' writer planned Rose spin-off
Russell T Davies wanted to give Doctor Who sidekick Rose Tyler her own spin-off series.

The show's writer proposed a 90-minute special to the BBC after filming for Billie Piper's final episode had been completed, but he soon had a change of heart and pulled out.

"It was going to be fantastic. Rose Tyler: Earth Defence," he told The Mirror. "But then I just thought, 'no'. It spoils Doctor Who if we can see Rose and the Doctor can't."
