Syed, who gained a reputation as a bad boy after starring in the BBC Two series alongside Michelle, says that he is trying his hardest to protect her.
"Of course we are together and these are exciting times, but at the same time I think Michelle is having quite a complex pregnancy," he told GMTV. "I'm trying to protect her and keep her covered as much as possible. At first we tried to keep it as private as possible, but it's impossible."
He added: "Don't believe everything you read because that is the bit you don't factor in, tabloids, and every week it's a different story."
