James Corden has confirmed plans for his first comedy drama series since Gavin & Stacey.

Corden revealed on Jo Whiley's Radio 2 show last night that he is currently writing the scripts with Horrible Histories actor and Gavin & Stacey co-star Matthew Baynton.

Tabloid reports last year suggested that Corden's new programme would be about a "hero mailroom boy".

Talking to Whiley, Corden said: "I'm writing a TV show at the moment that we're shooting later this year. It's called The Wrong Man.

"I'm writing with a brilliant actor called Matthew Baynton, who played Deano in Gavin & Stacey and people will know him from a brilliant kids show Horrible Histories. One of the best kids TV shows ever.

"It's a thriller comedy. We're writing it now, so who knows how it will evolve?"

Corden's new series is expected to air on BBC One.
