Radio One disc jockeys JK and Joel are on the verge of a deal to host a prime-time comedy show, according to reports.
The BBC is keen to sign the pair on a two-year contract to make a series of programmes, says The Sun. Jason King and Joel Ross currently host the weekday drive-time show and the chart show.
The deal would include a 12-week prank show – provisionally titled My Weekend – in which the pair play tricks on the public. “Guests will be invited on and will be totally set up," said a source. "They won’t have a clue what is really happening to them.”
“The boys have been desperate to get their own prime time TV show," a source explained to the paper. “They have been called the Ant 'n' Dec of radio so it will be interesting to see how they fare against them on TV.
“Comedy is what they are best at. But their contracts are up next month and with recent shake-ups they don’t know if they’ll be renewed. Their first show isn’t set to start until January.”
