The first episode of Charlotte Church's new chat show attracted 1.6 million more viewers than its predecessor.
The Charlotte Church Show, which started on Friday (September 1) night, doubled figures for The Friday Night Project to reach 2.6 million with a guest line-up including Denise Van Outen and Will and Grace's Eric McCormack.
A spokesman for Channel 4 praised its first outing. He commented: "It's a brilliant start for the programme and very encouraging. We hope it continues."
The show will this week go head-to-head with BBC favourite Jonathan Ross, however, with a new 15-part series. "Charlotte got off to a great start but, to be fair, she didn't have much competition," a source explained. "She'll have to work hard."
