'Fireman Sam' celebrates 25th birthday with new Cartoonito series

Children's TV classic Fireman Sam will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a new series on Cartoonito, it has been revealed.

Turner Broadcasting is marking the famous fireman's birthday by launching series eight of the pre-school kids TV favourite.
The refreshed CGI Fireman Sam features new characters and locations. It premieres on March 3, 2012.

Fireman Sam, which is set in the fictional Welsh town of Pontypandy, launched in 1986 in English and Welsh and was the creation of two real-life firemen, Dave Gingell and Dave Jones.
The latest series will feature new characters Moose Roberts, a survival expert, Mrs Chen, a school teacher, and Gareth Griffiths, Sarah and James's granddad. Meanwhile, Station Office Steele has a new fire engine called Bessie and Sam has a quad bike named Mercury.
Fireman Sam will air from March 3 on Saturdays at 8am on Cartoonito.
