Brit Awards dominate with nearly 6 million on ITV1

This year's Brit Awards posted good numbers on ITV1 last night, attracting nearly 6 million viewers according to overnight data.
Across the two-hour transmission, the ceremony averaged 5.92m (24.1%). An additional 300k (1.4%) caught it on timeshift which boosted the Brit Awards' numbers to their highest since 2005.

It was a vast improvement over the 2011 awards when it took 4.8m and was beaten comprehensively by Big Fat Gypsy Weddings.
In contrast, the Channel 4 show could only respond with 3.47m (13.8%) from 9pm, down by more than one million compared to last week. However, it did grab 952k (5.2%) on +1 and become the most-watched multichannel programme of the night.
Elsewhere for Channel 4, 8pm's Gok's Teens: The Naked Truth took 880k (3.7%) and Shameless earned 1.54m (8.7%) from 10pm (+1: 375k/4.3%).
Prisoners' Wives also suffered slightly on BBC One, but did beat Gypsy Weddings in the 9pm timeslot with 3.7m (14.7%).
Channel 5's Body of Proof remained impressively steady with 1.36m (5.4%) from 9pm. The US drama was followed by Whitney's Addictions: Death of a Diva (1.32m/7.3%) and preceded by The True Story (1.12m/4.7%).
BBC Two showed Alex Polizzi: The Fixer (2m/8.3%) from 8pm and How to Grow a Planet (1.41m/5.6%) from 9pm.
Overall, ITV1 won primetime with 21.3% (+1: 0.9%) ahead of BBC One's 19.9%. Channel 4 picked up 7.6% (+1: 1.4%) with BBC Two and Channel 5 following behind with 6.4% and 4.9% respectively.
Over on MTV, Geordie Shore drew 321k (1.8%) in the 10pm hour.
