The 'Bat Out of Hell' singer was seen by viewers balancing a banana on his head while waiting for his slot on the ITV1 talk show, but shortly after was taken ill.
Host Andrea McLean said: "I'm afraid that Meat Loaf has been taken unwell so he's unable to join us for the end of the show."
A spokesperson for the singer has so far been unable to give more details on his condition.
Meat Loaf suffered an asthma attack on stage during a performance in New Jersey last year, with audience members claiming he fainted.
The rock legend recently told Digital Spy that he would never knock Fox series Glee after making a brief appearance in 2010.
