'Derek': New teaser video for Ricky Gervais comedy

A new preview clip of Ricky Gervais comedy pilot Derek has been released.

The footage sees Gervais's titular character cut the toenails of a resident at the nursing home where he works on the promise of toffees.



Five more clips from Derek also featuring Karl Pilkington in his debut acting role were unveiled earlier this week.

Gervais has insisted that Derek differs from his breakout series The Office, saying that there's "no veil of irony" in the new project.

"Derek is self-aware because he's just honest," the comedian explained. "He says what's on his mind He's better than us.

"He's lovely and he's kind. Whatever he thinks and does is the nice way to go, whether that's right or wrong."

Derek airs April 12 at 10pm on Channel 4.
