Ramsay describes 'Hell's Kitchen' trauma

Gordon Ramsay has described Hell's Kitchen as one of the worst experiences of his life.

The foul-mouthed chef admitted that he struggled to get on with host Angus Deayton and described the celebrity participants as "whingers".

"The whole thing was one long argument," Ramsay explained in new autobiography Humble Pie. "If the contestants were all allowed to drink late at night, it might have made the footage better, but I had a restaurant to run.

"My attitude to the whingers was: 'You’re on a minimum fee of 25-30 grand for being here, my guys [at the restaurant] worked 12 months to earn 20 grand.'

"I soon found out Angus Deayton was taking the p**s out of me. He was so sarcastic. They wanted me to chat to him on camera - you know, a bit of friendly camaraderie, but the show was live so they couldn’t make me. He was f***ed then."
